Internship Opportunities

Icarus RT, Inc.’s internship program is an excellent way to gain valuable technical business experience that will enhance your skill set. We are looking to build the next generation of technical innovators and intelligent business people through providing training and ‘real world’ experience to students. Interns should be prepared to work in a fast-paced team environment and ill finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of their field. Each internship opportunity provides flexible working hours (approximately 10 hours per week) during the 6-12 month duration of the program which may lead to an additional paid internship. Positions in this program include:

Structural Engineering

This position requires a major in structural engineering and a minimum GPA of 2.9. Interns should be positive, responsible, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Responsibilities for the Structural Engineering Intern include, but are not limited to, reviewing designs and performing structural analyses for solar energy systems, assisting in projects involving photovoltaic (PV) and solar water heating (SWH) systems, and evaluating renewable energy project concepts.

Environmental Engineering

This position requires a major in environmental engineering and a minimum GPA of 2.9. Interns should be upbeat, reliable, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a familiarity with Environmental Impact Studies, as well as a proficiency in Microsoft office programs, SolidWorks or AutoDESK, and COMSOL, Star CMM+, MatLab, or ANSYS. This intern will be required to assume engineering responsibilities for ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, implement procedures to improve environmental, safety, and economic compliance, review and file regulatory reports and permit applications, and facilitate certification for solar projects, as well as perform other assigned duties.

Electrical Engineering

This position requires a major in electrical engineering and a minimum GPA of 2.9. Interns should be upbeat, responsible, have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as a proficiency Microsoft Office programs and MatLab. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, component and subassembly test development, data acquisition, analysis and reporting, working with other engineers for prototype and pilot design, preparing verification test protocols, and performing cost analysis and planning for major commodities and recommending cost saving proposals.

Mechanical Engineering

This position requires a major in mechanical/ aerospace engineering and a minimum GPA of 2.9. Interns should be upbeat, responsible, have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as a proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs, SolidWorks or AutoDESK and COMSOL, Star CCM+, MatLab, or ANSYS. A mechanical engineering intern would be responsible for component and subassembly test development, data acquisition, analysis and reporting, assisting in Heat Exchanger and turbine design modeling selection, working with other engineers for prototype and beta project design, preparing verification test protocols, and performing cost analysis and planning for major commodities and recommending cost saving proposals, as well as performing other assigned duties.

Finance/ Accounting

Applicants for this position should be majoring in business, finance, or accounting and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.9. Interns should be positive, responsible and should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position also requires proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and particularly Excel. This position would include the responsibilities of assisting with the preparation of financial models (5 year forecast, Product Cost, and Valuation), analyzing customer and competitor sales data, and supporting team based business development efforts.
