Icarus RT is excited to announce its collaboration with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and Con Edison to enhance the future of hybrid solar plus storage systems. As solar technology continues to advance, this partnership aims to optimize solar energy efficiency, reduce CO2 emissions, and tackle energy storage challenges. By leveraging Icarus RT’s cutting-edge hybrid photovoltaic/thermal (PV/T) technology, this partnership promises to deliver more sustainable and cost-effective energy solutions for commercial and industrial sectors.

EPRI’s commitment to cleaner, reliable power aligns with Icarus RT’s mission to revolutionize solar energy through their unique technology, which increases energy output by 12-18% and captures thermal energy for storage. The collaboration focuses on deploying innovative solutions to meet energy demand and address grid reliability challenges. Con Edison’s active role in this partnership ensures that the new technology is tested in real-world conditions, setting the stage for wide-scale adoption.

This project builds on the California Duck Curve challenge, where solar energy production often misaligns with peak demand. Icarus’ hybrid solution mitigates this issue by storing solar energy for use during high-demand periods, thus lowering utility costs and increasing energy resilience. The joint efforts will pave the way for cleaner, more efficient power across multiple sectors.
